The client

Branch built a web-based hybrid event platform with an exhibitor portal beside it. Registration, delegate profiles and agendas run through one login; the 2D virtual venue is wired to the live and 360° streams from the physical site; and the engagement tools are shared rather than duplicated, so a question asked online lands in the same session as one asked from the floor.

The World Chambers Congress is the global gathering of chamber of commerce leaders, held so they can trade practice, build networks and do business with one another across markets.

The challenge

The congress had to run as one event in two places at once. Delegates in the hall and delegates watching from other time zones needed the same sessions, the same exhibitors and the same room to talk in, which meant tying 2D web interfaces to 360° feeds of the physical venue rather than running a separate online programme alongside it. It had to carry 2,000 people in the building and more than 20,000 online without either audience becoming the secondary one.

What we built

  1. Registration and delegate portal

One registration system behind personalised event logins, individual delegate profiles and a tailored agenda per attendee, so the platform knows who is arriving and what they came for before the doors open.

  2. 2D virtual venue on 360° streams

Live session feeds and 360° views of the physical venue connected to the virtual breakout rooms and 2D interfaces, so an online delegate moves through the same building the in-person delegates are standing in.

  3. Shared engagement layer

Live Q&A, audience polling, a social feed and moderated session channels running across both audiences at once, rather than an in-room experience with a broadcast of it for everyone else.

  4. Self-service exhibitor area

An exhibitor portal where participating companies field information requests, schedule meetings, chat with delegates and update their own booth content live, without routing every change through the organiser.

Results

  • Built to carry 2,000+ in-person delegates and more than 20,000 virtual attendees across global time zones.

  • One digital environment spanning the physical venue and the virtual one, with sessions, exhibitors and networking common to both.

  • Trade delegation networking and live session collaboration open to delegates who never travelled to the venue.

Integrations

  • Zoom
